Meet Katie Curran,

wife, mother, and Etsy shop owner

Katie is the wife, mother, and artist/creator behind Totus Tuus Treasures, a rosary and Catholic gifts Etsy shop. She began crafting as a child and made her first rosaries for family and friends beginning in 2016. She officially opened her Etsy shop in 2020 and her mission is to spread devotion to the rosary and Our Blessed Mother one pair of praying hands at a time.

Tell us a little bit about yourself – your family, hobbies, experiences, education, etc., basically anything you’d like to share.

My name is Katie Curran and I am the wife, mother, and artist/creator behind Totus Tuus Treasures. My husband and I met at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina, married in 2016, and have four children—one in Heaven and three here on earth. While my husband was working from home in 2020, I wanted something to keep my hands busy while our children napped and once they went to bed. I picked up crocheting again and also began making rosaries and Catholic gifts for family and friends. I soon had more supplies than I needed and felt called to share more rosaries with others so I opened an Etsy shop and God has graced it all more than I ever imagined.

What is your apostolate? How do you bring truth, beauty and goodness to the world? How did your ministry/apostolate begin?

In addition to the Etsy shop, I started an Instagram account where I could share my current projects with family and friends. It quickly took off and I have thousands of people from all over the world following along with my creations and sharing love for the devotion to the rosary. It is an immense gift to connect with others and share our faith through the gift of technology. Through my page and my Etsy shop, my goal is to spread devotion to the rosary and Our Blessed Mother one pair of praying hands at a time.

What have you struggled with and how have you managed to balance the interior life of Mary, with the exterior life of Martha? Tell us about your practice of prayer and any special devotions you have, and how this supports/enhances your apostolate.

As a mother, my prayer life has fluctuated throughout the years but ensuring I pray a daily rosary has kept me steadfast in my faith, opened my heart to the graces of motherhood, and strengthened my relationship with Jesus as I meditate on the life of Christ through the mysteries of the rosary. We have moved seven times in our six years of marriage! Some months have allotted for Liturgy of the Hours, weekly Holy Hours, and more, while others (especially during the moving process) has meant a quick morning offering and an Act of Contrition before bed. My best advice is to start small by attaching a new prayer habit to something you already do each day (like praying a rosary during your commute or as you wash dishes, or a Morning Offering as you brush your teeth), and build on from there. Prayer looks different for each of us and there is a wealth of devotions in the richness of our faith!

Where can we learn more about you and your apostolate (contact info, website, etc.) and new projects?

My Etsy shop with ready to ship items can be found at TotusTuusTreasures.Etsy.com and my Instagram is @TotusTuusTreasures if you would like to follow along with my current projects. I am always open for custom rosaries and gifts, just send me a message on Instagram or Etsy. I look forward to putting my humble hands at your service!

My current projects include wire wrapped rosaries featuring handmade centerpieces with sacred art, and “Battle Basics” rosaries which are designed to cover all your battle basics—Miraculous Medal, Saint Benedict medal, battle buddy/favorite saint, and Our Father beads with the mysteries of the rosary for easy reference.
